Good Day This applies to all components of Libreoffice. I am unable to set the default page size through Page/Format outside my locale. My locale sets up A4 but I want Letter by default. I must change my locale to get Letter by default. A minor work around works under certain circumstances. I have created a default template with the correct paper size which is loaded on the command line. This does not work when I open a document with Libreoffice. Your assistance is appreciated.
Yes, default paper size comes from your locale. Odd to hear a "my locale is A4, but I want Letter", its usually the other way around when someone wants their UI in en_US but is unaware that US uses different paper and and date formats than the "norm", so... a) What *is* your locale i.e. from your email addr I'd expect it to be e.g. en_CA and /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_CA has LC_PAPER of 279x216 i.e. "Letter" so if your locale is en_CA it should have defaulted to Letter for you and does here if I use that particular locale. b) If you want to override stuff like paper size then open a blank doc, format page, set it to what you want, save as an .ott (template). Then file->templates->organize->my templates->commands->import template->select the .ott. In the "My Templates", right click it and set it as default
Thank You for the quick reply. I appreciate it. My locale is set to en_GB. The Canadian locale takes too much from American English. But you solved the problem. I used your Paragraph #3 suggestions and applied them. I already had the template so making it the default was the problem. I spent many hours looking for a solution to this and your suggestions were 9 steps. No wonder I couldn't find the solution. Thank You again. Mark this bug closed.
Fair enough.
