Writer locks up if you copy-paste from (at least one) webpage, where the copied content contains an inline image.

With some luck, writer can be killed.

Actually, at one point it seemed to grab the focus for the mouse and no longer released it, so I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL the KDE session (pretty funny seeing the "will exit in N seconds" window counting down and not being able to even click the cancel button).

Ok, so..

1) Go to http://www.guywagnerblog.com/fre/entry/la-question-primordiale-pour-un

2) Copy the text with the embedded image. The image comes from

   http://www.guywagnerblog.com/fre/resource/16_01_2013/graph01.png

Don't know whether there is a special writer-unfriendly filter or something.

3) Paste into Writer. If you are like Writer will show "dead image"
placeholders. Once you click on these, it will lock up.

Someone to the least forgot about putting in a timeout it seems.

Reproduced this problem in both Fedora 18 and Windows 7 (LO4.0.0.3). Click on the link provided. Highlight and copy the text (including pics) and paste into a writer doc. The problem occurs when you click on an image at which point writer locks up and you have to force exit.

A few other points to note:

If you simply paste the data into a document and attempt to save, writer locks up during the save process.

I pasted the same information into a MS Word document saved it and opened the .DOC file in LO with no problems.

Can't reproduce on 4.4.0.2.

For better or worse, it seems that the default is to internalise the image now, so pasting it results in a document with an internal image, not one that is loaded from outside. Thus, once the image is in the document, there's no chance of anything going wrong in trying to manipulate it or save the document.

Whether there are still any issues with timeouts on the initial import I can't tell - but the provided example doesn't show any at present
