Hi,

I wrote this up a long time ago and forgot to make a feature request.

Naming cells and clicking cells to retrieve cell name in formula

I like using libreoffice's Calc but one feature that is in Excel but not in Calc is that you can name a cell and enter a formula in another cell by clicking on the named cell.

For example:

A1 contains 5 B1 contains 10 A1 named five B1 named ten

You click on C1, type =, and click on A1, press +, click on B1

In Excel it will display:

=five+ten

In Calc it will display:

=A1+B1

I want to keep it with the named cells. I can do so if I manually type it out but it would be easier if I could click on the cell and have it retrieve the cell's name instead of the cell's original reference.

My apologies if someone already requested this feature. I searched and could not find a duplicate.

Thanks,
R

It could be a nice feature.
Set to enhancement.

Glad you think so. I hope this feature will be in the next release as it is a very important feature to the students at the University of New Hampshire, specifically civil engineers.

A few of us have already dropped our dependence on Windows but alas some features, albeit small, such as this, drive us to use the Windows computers on campus to take advantage of MS Office.

Thanks again,
R

Is there any developer interest at all in this simple feature? Or is it just me and a lot of other people who are interested in switching from MS to LO?
