Description foldes 2013-08-08 22:32:09 UTC
Problem description: it is unable to check anything

Steps to reproduce:
1. type a text
2. select few paragraphs
3. try either from menu or f7 the spell checking

Current behavior: Spell checking window pops up and the same time a small window that spell checking is ready also appears. You can click only on the small one ("spell checking is ready") and the major spell checking windows is visible not accessible. The only option on the small one is to click on ok and then without checking a single letter both windows close.

Dictioniaries were installed so that could not be missing.

It happened in a Hungarian language version of Libreoffice, but the spell checking would have been in German.

Expected behavior: proper spellchecking with all functional features

The Swiss German Spelling is working, but only if you download the extension and set the default language in Tools / Options / Language Settings / Languages to German (Switzerland). After the it is possible to select the Swiss German language, but other languages that can be selected in Tools / Options / Language Settings / Languages to German (Switzerland) cannot be selected in the document. Looks like the selection differs.

I think, I encountered this problem while building packages for a small distro (paldo.org).

As far as I remember the issue is, that the German dictionaries have a non standard file name. I had to remove the "_frami" extension in the name - afterward it should work:

See:
http://paldo.org/paldo/stable/specs/writing-aid-de_DE.xml

[...]
<!-- LibO can't find the dictionary if it has the "_frami" ending -->
<cmd>cp de_DE_frami/de_DE_frami.dic /usr/share/hunspell/de_DE.dic</cmd>
<cmd>cp de_DE_frami/de_DE_frami.aff /usr/share/hunspell/de_DE.aff</cmd>
[...]

If this is the problem in your case as well, someone should probably check if this could be an EasyHack to fix.

hth

kind regards,
nicolas
