Description Björn Michaelsen 2013-10-10 22:26:20 UTC
This Easy Hack is to sort and clean up Wiki pages on https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/

For example for development pages:

to those pages:
- add "[[Category:development]]" if needed
- add the menus from e.g. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development to the page, if needed
- move pages to a subpage of Development/, if needed
  example: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/index.php?title=Development%2FImpress_Remote_Protocol&diff=76519&oldid=76518
  (mediawiki will automatically create a redirect from the old page to the new page)
- create links between related pages liberally to improve discoverability

The same applies to other categories: Marketing, Design, Website ...

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Special:SpecialPages has a lot of good starting points for all this.
Comment 2 Wojciech Zasadni 2013-12-21 20:02:23 UTC
Clean wiki is good wiki!
And it's my job to clean it up.

But before I start - one question about menu. We are talking about that menu on top of https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development?
Cheers!

Yes, having the appropriate:

{{TopMenu}}
{{Menu}}
{{Menu.Development}}
{{OrigLang|}}

stuff on the top of wikipages would be nice.

Unfortunately, the process of cleaning the wiki is hindered by "spam defender".
I can edit only two or three pages and after that I have to wait for couple of minutes before I can edit next page. Can we do anything about this? If not, this process gonna be really slow...
Comment 5 Björn Michaelsen 2013-12-22 12:55:52 UTC
@floeff: ^^ any hints?
Comment 6 Wojciech Zasadni 2013-12-22 15:01:59 UTC
Now, even I waited for ... 40 - 60 minutes, I can't edit any page.
I keep getting the message: "Action throttled
As an anti-spam measure, you are limited from performing this action too many times in a short space of time, and you have exceeded this limit. Please try again in a few minutes."

Comment 10 Wojciech Zasadni 2013-12-28 17:54:42 UTC
Is there any way, to move these attachment to #68200? If not, can someone delete it? Sorry for the mess.
Comment 11 Florian Effenberger 2014-01-02 11:54:57 UTC
Can you let me know the exact error message, so I can check which anti-spam module might be the culprit?
Comment 12 Dennis Roczek 2014-06-02 22:19:24 UTC
clear assignment as gecko isn't working since month on cleaning the wiki. Moreover this is a multi-user task actually --> feel free to help @everybody!

At best for somebody new is to add the topmenus as described in comment #3
(be prepared that the localized forms e.g. {{TopMenu/fr}} and so on is used!)

Most pages and files need categories and / or new ones have to be created!

Moreover many pages should be renamed (moved) and using a new page name in the international structure like "English Page Name/iso-lang-code".

If anybody needs help or tasks, don't hesitate to ping me either in the irc chat (User DennisRoczek) or write an mail or write a comment onwiki as I'm helping out in the wiki nearly every day. :-)

Not a DEV problem --> assigning to the websiteML.
