- Open a new Writer Document
- enable the non-printing characters
- paste some random text in the document

Thank you for submitting the bug. Can you check if this behaviour is still there in 4.2.5, 4.1.6 and 4.0.6. I tested it on Linux Mint and couldnt reproduce your issue.
