In LO 4.3.3.2, Win 8.1 it still worked properly.

Possibly the same issue as bug 86774? I can't reproduce this at all, but if anyone can reproduce both this and 86774 then the later bug should probably be closed as a duplicate of this. I think this must be some theme interaction with stock Ubuntu (it's not visible on Ubuntu 14.04 with lxde)

I wouldn't state this as 'trivial'. It's plain wrong in the UI, and that is what people see and must rely on :)
