Your interface sent my report before i finish it. So please consider this as my primary report on the bug. I have a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with an USB printer connected and shared with CUPS. Clients are Windows 8 pro. The USB printer has been configured using IPP assistant on windows clients and urls like http://IP_UBUNTU:631/PRINTER_NAME. When the Ubuntu 14.04 is on, no problems at all : LO Calc open files normally. But when the Ubuntu 14.04 is off (awake), LO Calc searches the IPP printer before opening the document : the LibreOffice window remains white, and after 1-2mn, the document finally opens... Of course, for a professionnal use, this behaviour is very annoying.
(In reply to contact from comment #1) > When the Ubuntu 14.04 is on, no problems at all : LO Calc open files > normally. > But when the Ubuntu 14.04 is off (awake), LO Calc searches the IPP printer Just to clarify, the "Off" state is when the printserver is powered off, or some other state? (suspend, hibernate, etc..?) In the Off state, can you ping the printserver or interact with it at all? Status -> NEEDINFO (*Please change status -> UNCONFIRMED after you reply. Thanks!)
"Off" is the state when then Ubuntu 14.04 LTS hibernates so the CUPS server can't respond to any request and so the ping. When it happens, LibreOffice Calc on the windows clients have this annoying bug when opening documents : they wait the IPP server online, and have a long timeout when the server is not. I haven't notice this behaviour on LibreOffice Writer.
