Latest Ubuntu says version 1.14.6-1 

cairo-xlib-surface-shm.c:619 should check for NULL and return an error code.


Gnome Image Viewer is asserting (and then stopping) 3.18.2
because of this code.
Best practice is to check and return an error code so application can handle their issue (that they are calling your API with NULL)

The crash is caused by a 14MB panorama JPG, let me know if you would like me to upload it on your server.
