Description Khashayar Naderehvandi 2007-03-31 07:24:31 UTC
I've been trying to use the i915tex as a possible solution to bug 10485. First I had the problem mentioned in the mailing list here http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2006-December/000957.html. I removed the block of code mentioned in the post for testing purposes. The result was that after compiz started, compositing seemed to work for a couple of seconds (decoration + shadows are drawn, windows start to wobble when moved), but then the server crashed and restarted.

I'll attach the log file from the crash and xorg.conf.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using compiz from git, of course.

Does it work if you start compiz with --no-fbo?

--no-fbo doesn't seem to be an option:

compiz: Unknown option '--no-fbo'

There's a patch in Debian that adds the --no-fbo option. You can
get the patch here[0]. The patch is against compiz 0.5.0.

Thanks, I tried the patch. It crashed the xserver instantaneously, just like before. I'm not surprised though as I was of the impression that i915tex in fact does use fbo...

915tex is gone. would you please test on the git upstream to see if the issue still exist? if yes, please open another bug, and I'll mark this bug as wontfix. thanks!
