Wayland version: 1.14.0-1
libinput version: 1.10.3-1
Linux kernel: 4.15.9-1-ARCH

Description: pressing the key combination Control + Backspace normally deletes the next word to the left in most OSs, including Linux through Xorg, but in Wayland this behaviour does not occur (at least on my computer).

This is a bug in the desktop environment you're using, rather than Wayland itself. For example, here is the bug for GNOME to fix it:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=754110

If you're using GNOME, please follow up on that bug; if you're using another Wayland server, please contact the authors of that server and ask them to do what's described in that GNOME bug report.
