Description Sylvain BERTRAND 2018-05-22 10:56:44 UTC
I have a iiyama gmaster monitor connected to an AMD TAHITI XT board using DP.
When the xserver switches it to dpms off, it has an hard time to get out of this state: most of the time, the monitor is switched on but I get a "no signal" error displayed by the monitor, and the graphic stack is trying to restore the signal in a loop, unsuccessfully. That, whatever the refresh rate:60Hz/120Hz/144Hz (1920x1080).
I provide the xserver log and the kernel.log while the components try to restore the video signal.
linux amd-staging-next, drm git, llvm git, mesa git, xserver git, xf86-video-amdgpu git, from this 20th of may.

Is this a regression?
Comment 5 Sylvain BERTRAND 2018-05-22 19:06:52 UTC
I cannot reasonably tell you if it is a regression, because my usage rarely gets
my monitor in dpms off mode. That on top of the fact I did a new custom
gnu/linux distro recently.
If you have some compilation or not flags to enable tracing of video mode
related code (in any/all components), I'll give it a shot.

I must say that the keyboard and mouse are responsive and I can use the computer
blindely when the monitor is looping in trying to restore the video mode, thus
I am able to get on the spot logs.
