It would be nice if we had a small program that checks the PDF for subset standards like PDF/X and PDF/A. Something like a PDF validator if you like.
This info can (should) be also included in pdfinfo.

A free tool for this exist for Windows and Mac:

Yes, this enhancement is still valid, there is no way to check the validity of a PDF subset at the moment.
