(In reply to Christian Zigotzky from comment #0) > Which update between the RC1 and RC2 could be responsible for the VLC issue? None of them directly affect the radeon driver. It's quite likely that this is a PPC specific issue. Your best bet is bisecting between rc1 and rc2. Hi Michel, Does VLC works with the RC2 and RC3 of kernel 5.1 with the open source Radeon driver on PCs? Cheers, Christian I haven't seen any other similar reports. OK, I will try to remove the PowerPC fixes 5.1-4 and 5.1-3. Thanks (In reply to Christian Zigotzky from comment #4) > OK, I will try to remove the PowerPC fixes 5.1-4 and 5.1-3. Looks like that helped from your posts on the linuxppc-dev mailing list, resolving accordingly. |

Created attachment 143840 [details] dmesg of kernel 5.1-rc3 Hi All, I figured out, that the VLC player doesn't play videos anymore since the RC2 of kernel 5.1. VLC plays videos with the RC1 of kernel 5.1 without any problems. The issue is between the RC1 and the RC2. I tested the VLC 3.0.4 on Fienix and VLC 2.2.2 on ubuntu MATE 16.04.6 LTS on some PowerPC machines with Radeon graphics cards (open source Radeon driver). VLC error messages: [100ea580] ts demux warning: first packet for pid=1104 cc=0xe [100ea580] ts demux warning: first packet for pid=1102 cc=0x4 [100ea580] ts demux warning: first packet for pid=1101 cc=0x8 [10109218] core decoder warning: can't get output picture [10109218] avcodec decoder warning: disabling direct rendering [10109218] core decoder warning: can't get output picture ---- There aren't many DRM updates between the RC1 and RC2. PLEASE test the RC3 with VLC and the open source Radeon driver on your machines. You will see, that VLC can't play videos anymore. Which update between the RC1 and RC2 could be responsible for the VLC issue? Thanks, Christian
