Description Rafał Bilski 2007-05-28 13:36:23 UTC
I'm Gentoo user. After upgrade from xorg-server-1.2.0-r3 to xorg-server-1.3.0.0 X dies with:
> Backtrace:
> 0: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0xa9) [0x80b0cf9]
> Fatal server error:
> Caught signal 11. Server aborting
If I switch from MPlayer window (-vo xv or -vo xvmc) to other one and back to
video window. Note "-vo x11" is fine. Haven't happen before.
I tried to upgrade driver for my video card to latest SVN version. Didn't help. Only downgrade of xorg-server package helps.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Play movie or video in MPlayer using hardware acceleration (XVideo or XvMC).
2. Switch to other window. Any.
3. Switch back to MPlayer's video window.

Actual Results:
Black screen. 2s gap. X server dies.

My hardware: VIA Epia M10000 with CLE266 chipset and 512MB RAM.
X driver (upgraded): Openchrome "development build, at svn revision 336".
Linux kernel: 2.6.21.1

This is probably fixed by http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/xserver.git;a=commitdiff;h=649e7f82d8d4333443493056b81eb20d6cf022bc which I've nominated for the 1.3 branch.

Well. It helps, but I just had X frozen while doing opposite thing. When I switched window from "The Holiday" to Thunderbird X did froze. Mouse pointer didn't move. Thunderbird window wasn't painted. MPlayer was working for a while (audio) and stop. Keyboard locked. Can't switch console. But system was still working and properly shutdown after pressing "power" switch. No errors in X log. Again didn't happen before. Are there any suspects?

Damn. Happened again. Without any reason. I will downgrade xorg-server and check if it is its fault or Openchrome driver.

Looks like Openchrome bug. Thank You for help.
