Description Pavel Rojtberg 2007-06-10 01:10:07 UTC
the screen keeps black and the server stops responding to keystrokes. The only possibility to get out is a hard off. Was not able to get a Xorg.log so far...

XPRESS chips probably require some additional or different things to enable dynamicclocks. However, since we have no documentation on the XPRESS chips, it's hard to figure out exactly what is needed. You best bet is to leave it disabled until someone reverse engineers it or ati releases some documentation.

I have some dump here of rs690 (which is next xpress generation i think)
and it seems AMD shifted all MC register by 0x100 ie register 0 of MC
register is at 0x101, register 2 at 0x102, ... maybe they did somethings
similar for this chipset a dump under fglrx would be helpfull.

For dumping you might want to try:
git://people.freedesktop.org/~z3ro/radeondump

radeondump didn't work properly on your card. I will try to figure out why.
Comment 5 Pavel Rojtberg 2007-06-11 07:46:06 UTC
in case it helps you:
Im using Ubuntu Feisty with a self compiled libpciaccess(todays git), since it was not available in the repositories.
