I own an IBM Thinkpad T23, which has a Supersavage/IXC 16MB chipset. Distro is sidux (Debian Sid clone). Xorg is 7.2 from sid repos.

When I am running on init 5 in my kde 3.5.7 environment and I give "init 3" to the machine, as well as when I give "init 0" or "init 6", the screen just blanks and doesn't show text mode anymore. The machine responds to text commands written "blindly", but nobody can see anything.

This DOES NOT HAPPEN ONLY IF I'm ALREADY in a text-only screen (e.g. after having given an Alt+Ctrl+F1) and I issue "init 3" command from there.
