I tried nouveau again today and it failed with the same message:

(II) NOUVEAU(0): [drm] drmSetBusid failed (7, pci:0000:01:00.0), Device or resource busy
(EE) NOUVEAU(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed.  Disabling DRI.

You Xorg log says the driver date is from Jul 17. Are you sure you pulled everything recently ?

Ok, sorry I think I forgot to install with PREFIX=/usr since my July attempt ;)

Works with fresh git-clone now, closing. Thanks
