gnome-phone-manager currently has its own UI and backend for sending and receiving SMS messages.

It would be useful if Telepathy UIs could be used instead (such as Empathy).

The current backend API is at:

I'm willing to write the D-Bus bits of gnome-phone-manager, given an API, and if someone handles writing the telepathy plugin :)

I started a while ago a similar project "telepathy blue". Unfortunately i had the bad idea to try to reinvent the wheel and do my own bluetooth stuff.

It kind of stalled since then and the telepathy API has greatly evolved. You can grab the code here:

There's code in gnome-phone-manager to do this now.
