Then we have a lower-level library that can be used by other desktop apps to create maps.  We'd have to formalize an API so that an app can essentially ask for a map of a given area, with certain POI sets or whatever...

Note that we could then rewrite roadster as a higher-level app over libroadster.  Maybe in Python.
