First, i apologise if this is not an xorg bug or is something to do with my configuration. However, i haven't been able to find any good information and i'm not sure what else to try at this point.

I'm using an MGA G550 card with a 1600x1200 LCD monitor. The monitor needs to be driven at a VertRefresh of 60Hz. Under linux kernel 2.6.22.x and prior I recently tried upgrading to linux kernel 2.6.23, at which point my previously-working xorg.conf stopped working.

Are you still seeing this bug on newer versions of xserver? If so, has your xserver version changed between the two kernels? Driver version? If not, then this is a kernel bug.

Wow, i forgot i posted this bug three years ago!

It was subsequently determined to be a kernel issue, and i found a way to work around it by backing out a change committed during the 2.6.23 development cycle. They finally reverted it in the 2.6.32.4 kernel.
