Description Bret Towe 2007-11-19 15:00:23 UTC
with the ati driver 6.7.196 when gdm loads it switches when loading x but rather than getting the gdm login i get a black screen I need to switch to a console and back to see what I should see in the first place
the driver in ubuntu gutsy did similar but monitor would also go into sleep mode

this is on a mac mini g4 lspci lists the card as
0000:00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200] (rev 01)
monitor is connected via dvi no converters

initial report was a bit off apparently the reboot I had done affected it
the monitor is going off due to no signal same as what is in ubuntu gutsy
for whatever reason the reboot made it so it was getting a signal
still no display till switching to console and back

This looks like an issue with the external tmds chip.   Try commenting out RADEONRestoreDVOChip(pScrn, output);
in radeon_mode_set() in radeon_output.c
