Description Thomas Drillich 2007-11-20 15:19:48 UTC
Hi,
server crashes immediatly after start,
in advance to older drivers I'm able to switch back to vt.
At last versions I need to login from remote and reboot
computer.

It seems (see http://www.drillich.com/xorg/dmesg.log.gz)
that X tries to use a NULL Pointer.

any ideas to get closer to the bug
greetings thomas

mm-io-trace kernel 2.6.22.6 fglrx 8.42.3
        http://www.drillich.com/xorg/mmio-trace-fglrx-ati-rs480-amd64x2.bz2

need to switch back to kernel 2.6.22.6.
In kernel 2.6.23 they did some garbage collection, removed depricated, and
fglrx depends on that ;-)

I have similar issues, but the requirements of 2.6.22.6 for fglrx are incorrect. I am using 2.6.23 kernel, and I built fglrx against 2.6.23rc3 before 2.6.23 was finalized. I still have the patch around, but it needs to be tweaked for 2.6.23 final. Mine is an RS485 chipset, however, so I would assume the issue exists within the r300 driver, or the drm-radeon module.

Closing this bug, reopen and attach to bugzilla informations if you still have this issue with recent kernel, mesa, xf86-video-ati.

Mass version move, cvs -> git
