Description Taiyo Rawle 2007-12-03 11:27:08 UTC
Blender causes X to lockup in Fedora 8 x86_64, using the packaged xorg and intel driver on a G965 chip (GMA X3000). A short while after starting blender X will freeze then attempt to restart three to four times then give up. After this I am left with a black screen with a somewhat corrupted mouse pointer in the centre, and I am unable to ctrl+alt+F2 into another terminal session. I was using the F8 packaged blender which is 32 bit. My system is a core 2 duo E6300 on an Intel DG965WH motherboard, using the integrated VGA output. I ran a yum update but this did not fix this problem. Linux is still alive after the lockup (I was able to SSH in from another machine) but I'm stuck with the black screen as described above.

To reproduce the problem start blender and move the default cube around for a while. Sooner or later the crash happens. I was using blender under KDE.

Below is the tail of my Xorg.log from where the error messages begin:

seems dup with bug#11847, though we are not able to reproduce it on our side.
