Created attachment 900 [details] [review] Patch for 2004-09-15-trunk Ajax: Is the patch OK for you ? it builds anyway. i'll do some runtime tests in the morning. ajax@nwnk.net wrote: > it builds anyway. i'll do some runtime tests in the morning. Runtime should not be a problem (I've done some testing on SuSE8.2 so far...) ... Patch checked-in... /cvs/xorg/xc/ChangeLog,v <-- ChangeLog new revision: 1.370; previous revision: 1.369 /cvs/xorg/xc/config/cf/linux.cf,v <-- linux.cf new revision: 1.14; previous revision: 1.13 Mailing the commit message to xorg-commit@pdx.freedesktop.org... ... marking bug as FIXED. Some poor fellow now has to make some documentation "how to use SUN-DES-1 authenfification on Linux" ... (well on Linux it is less difficult as on Solaris since the Xserver always runs as "root" (on Solaris you have to "guess" the "netname" of the Xserver process)) ... =:-) Comment on attachment 900 [details] [review] Patch for 2004-09-15-trunk Requesting approval ti get this feature enabled in the X11R6.8.x branch. The patch is now in Xorg trunk since three months without causing any trouble so I assume it's pretty much safe to turn this feature "on" for this release. Comment on attachment 900 [details] [review] Patch for 2004-09-15-trunk Approval for X11R6.8.x stable branch DENIED in the 2004-12-08 release wranglers phone call. This is a feature which should be shipped with the next major release (e.g. X11R6.9.0). Comment on attachment 900 [details] [review] Patch for 2004-09-15-trunk Renominating for X11R6.8.x stable branch. The patch is now in Xorg trunk since more than six month without causing any regressions or problems and I think it would be a nice thing to have in the stable branch as such a user-to-user authentification is very valueable for big sites and enterprise users (MIT-KERBEROS-5 is still being broken in both X11R6.8.x and stable branch and therefore no option... ;-( ). |
