*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 12304 *** I've just tried the latest poppler from git and the rendering seems to be much better. However, poppler has still some spacing issues unlike xpdf. See the attached screenshot (I've used poppler's pdftoppm, I hope that's ok): - ' in Wouldn't - S in Sandeep - ll and fi in specifically etc. Created attachment 14192 [details]
spacing issues
These spacing issues are in fonts that are not embedded in the pdf, so we ask fontconfig for a suitable replacement and then if the replacement does not match the expected font width, we scale it. There's nothing we can do to do it better, if you want you can fine tune your fontconfig configuration to give better replacements for the non-embedded files in that pdf file. |

Created attachment 14015 [details] test pdf I run Evince on Ubuntu Hardy, which links against poppler 0.6.2. xpdf renders the attached pdf correctly, while poppler does not.
