Description Konstantin Svist 2008-02-21 13:50:56 UTC
For some reason my laptop panel randomly (with time intervals generally in the order of days) blinks for a moment, and right away goes back to normal.

The problem appears with both fglrx and radeonhd.

The different content appears and disappears very fast (I'd say a single frame/screen refresh), and there doesn't seem to be any screen corruption before or after it.
After seeing it for a while (a year?), I've started noticing a pattern: when it happens while I'm looking to the side (external monitor), I notice shapes that look a lot like zoomed in text -- so I suspect that the blink is actually a zoomed-in version of the screen.

I think I've heard similar symptoms mentioned in passing before, but I can't rule out a hardware failure (as this only seems to happen on panel, never on the external monitor)

The laptop in question is Dell Inspiron E1505

A fix has been committed recently which disables the scaler engine. Do you still see this with the latest GIT sources?
Please reassign back to the default maintainer when done, thanks!
