#2 exists, as part of the XKB API. The GNOME keyboard accessibility prefs dialog exposes this as a checkbox, you can turn off the beep notifications. Another nice enhancement would be the ability to handle e.g. ctrl+mousebutton as an event equivalent to e.g. ctrl+someletter in that it would not make ctrl stick. Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future. indeed, configurable timeouts and refusing actions from sticky keys would be nice.
