Xorg.conf
lspci lists the card as: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7800 GS] (rev a2) In the other output of the card, there's a non-DCC-enabled CRT. I should have commented on this earlier, but for some reason I didn't think on it. Interestingly, I had to boot sysresccd to move some data around and reinstall grub after a HDs reorganization, and noticed the bug is also there with the nv driver this livecd has (2.1.2). So, the only one that works properly is the blob here. Just sent a trace to the mmiotraces address. Subject is "bug 16269". The trace contains X startup, xset dpms force off and on, with markers everywhere. I hope this helps figure out how the blob properly does turn the TFT off. A lot of the dpms code has been changed since this was reported. Any chance you could see if your problem is fixed? No reponse from the reporter for more than a year. Closing. If the problem still exists on current version, please reopen with new set of logs. |

Created attachment 16997 [details] Xorg.0.log in short, behaviour of xset dpms force suspend/standby/off blob: TFT turns off nouveau: TFT turns off, then on "no signal", then off (repeat forever) The TFT is a ViewSonic VP930, connected by DVI. I attach xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log. Nouveau was build a few hours ago (20080608, 2am GMT aprox) It's scary enough! It would help to know how to entirelly disable DPMS in xorg.conf so that I can use nouveau without fear of destroying the screen, while the problem is identified and a solution is found. Interestingly, a really old blob version did behave like that with my old NV11 card and this screen, a pair of years ago. Nvidia fixed it eventually. Interesting part of dmesg (not much to see there): [ 12.124804] agpgart: Found an AGP 3.5 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.
