Description heavytull 2008-07-12 14:47:44 UTC
when i intend to leave my laptop for a while I manually switch OFF the backlight of the screen by pressing Fn+F4 keys, otherwise i just leave it ON and after 10min (ACPI settings) it gets OFF automatically. It appears that if I manually switch OFF the backlight and leave it OFF for the time of ACPI auto OFF, then I can switch back ON the backlight by just moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard once. But if I press a second time any key, then i get a blank screen (backlight ON) and the computer is in a "hung" mode, then I have to switch manually OFF the backlight again and switch it ON again by pressing any key on the keyboard.

I say it is in a "hung" mode because If all happens while the computer plays music, then the music stops when the screen is blank.

I'm using the default slackware 12.1 with its generic kernel (2.6.24.5-smp)

sounds like an acpi issue.
