This looks like an issue with pulseaudio, could you please take a look at "Alsa Configuration" in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio and see if after the changes you have a working setup? I tried the pulse audioroute on the wiki and only got some audio in stand alone apps. Still nothing in Firefox with any media plugin, including swfdec. The pulse configuration finally crashed my sound for everything so I disabled it after several hours. (In reply to comment #2) > I tried the pulse audioroute on the wiki and only got some audio in stand alone > apps. Still nothing in Firefox with any media plugin, including swfdec. This could be the firefox dsp thing under Known Issues in the same wiki page. Could you please check that you have a mp3 decoder for gstreamer, which means gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly or gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3? you should see a missing decoder message if you run firefox from the console. thanks for the reply. this has morphed into a more serious issue. I do have the plugins needed but in trying to get pulseaudio working I now have no sound at all, including after uninstalling pulseaudio. I have tried going back to alsa config as before but only occasional and intermitent sound. I realize that this is not a swfdec issue though the embedded viewer may be. I'm closing this, once you have a working audio setup feel free to reopen / file a new bug if you have issues. |
