Get the following running GL programs on my Fedora 8 system:

unknown chip id 0x71d4, can't guess.
libGL warning: 3D driver returned no fbconfigs.
libGL error: InitDriver failed
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M56GL [Mobility FireGL V5250]
01:00.0 0300: 1002:71d4

mesa-libGL-7.0.2-3.fc8

Let me know what else should get posted. Using the "radeon" driver.

You need a newer version of Mesa and the DRM kernel modules to get direct rendering working on that video card. I know that these are available with Fedora 9, but I'm not sure about Fedora 8.

I'm not a developer, so I won't/can't change the status, but I would suggest this get resolved as not a bug.
