Now that telepathy-spec 0.17.10 has been released (with SelfHandleChanged), TpConnection has a way to track the self-handle for the duration of the connection being "ready".

It should bind to SelfHandleChanged and fetch the self-handle (with GetAll or GetSelfHandle) before signalling connection-ready, and export a self-handle property (with notify::self-handle support) and a tp_connection_get_self_handle C convenience API.
