Description Peter Zijlstra 2008-10-20 03:52:44 UTC
xf86-video-ati-6.9.0-117-g435cf7d gives me one blank and one powered down screen instead of 2x 1920x1200 desktop joy.

I reverted commits in small lumps and around xf86-video-ati-6.9.0-107-g23c17c0 I got one display back - that is 1 display showing actual content, and 1 display not powered down but blank.

I tried building the radeon driver that used to work (ubuntu-hardy 6.8.0-1) against whatever Intrepid ships, and that yielded 1 working screen and the other showing a low res clone of the working - fiddling with xrandr only makes it worse.

(just for kicks I also tried the radeonhd driver, but that either shows me a clone of the left screen or a clone of the right screen, but never both)

Using xf86-video-ati-6.9.0-107-g23c17c0

DVI-1 seems to be the working screen, whereas DVI-0 is the blank screen.

When I prod at it with xrandr, I can get DVI-0 to show the low res clone, similar to the 6.8 driver. I cannot seem to change the resolution. Switching it off works, switching it back on gives me two blank screens.

<airlied> peterz: try generating a log file Option "ModeDebug" "true"
<airlied> I'll take a look tomorrow.
<peterz> airlied: what section do I put that in?
<airlied> device
<peterz> airlied: for both git ids, or just the slightly working one?
<airlied> slightly working will do..
<peterz> ok, will do and update the logfiles I linked to
<airlied> remove the Modes "1920x1200" from the screen section also as a test
<airlied> and possibly the horiz/vert limits.
<airlied> in the monitor sections
