xorg.conf

Turing on the option "DRI" does not enable R300 3D acceleration.
The Software Rasterizer is enabled instead.

In previous builds I have seen 3D acceleration working (R300) But in full screen video mode playing video (mplayer) is having hicks. Using VLC the performance is better, but slow. The software rasterizer gives better performance (using ShadowFB) then the R300 used to do.

System Dell Inspiron 1721:
- X1270 (RS690)

O.S. Opensuse 11.0 using Xorg updates.

Adjusted HW platform, OS and X-version.
Version X-server:

X.Org X Server 1.5.2
Release Date: 10 October 2008
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: openSUSE SUSE LINUX
Current Operating System: Linux h110 2.6.25.18-0.2-default #1 SMP 2008-10-21 16:30:26 +0200 x86_64
Build Date: 22 October 2008 08:42:28PM
Comment 4 Rafał Miłecki 2008-11-05 14:07:31 UTC
What has mentioned R300 to do with this bug report or even to radeonhd?

You use X Server 1.5.2 and Mesa 7.2 - that is fine for RS690. I guess problem is that radeonhd was compiled with --disable-dri option:
(WW) RADEONHD(0): DRI support has been disabled at compile time
Can you try other package with radeonhd or compile it yourself?

Part I don't understand:
(II) RADEONHD(0): Xv: No Textured Video possible without the Command Processor.
Comment 5 Egbert Eich 2008-11-05 14:37:37 UTC
From your log file:
(WW) RADEONHD(0): DRI support has been disabled at compile time
Comment 6 jbouwh 2008-11-05 14:40:09 UTC
Question is why DRI was disabled in the opensuse builds. It was not disabled a week ago. I do not compile the driver myself. I am using the builds for opensuse 11.0

From which repository did you update xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd? Post full address, please.

Comment 9 Rafał Miłecki 2008-11-06 03:21:56 UTC
I asked about repository, not package :|

Just guessing you use
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.0/
or
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Drivers:/Video/openSUSE_11.0/
I mailed Stefan with link to this bug report.
Comment 11 jbouwh 2008-11-06 11:16:10 UTC
The latest package that was issued today was compiles with DRI support again. 3D Works again.

Package version:
xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd-1.2.3_081106_bb14c00-8.1
Comment 12 Rafał Miłecki 2008-11-07 00:57:52 UTC
jbouwh: package was updated (thanks for Stefan and Matthias), should work fine now. Use YaST to update this package or just type in console
zypper in xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd
as root.
Comment 13 Rafał Miłecki 2008-11-07 00:59:40 UTC
Uh, I missed comment #11 (browser cache?). You already noticed update of package :)
