Created attachment 20526 [details] Relevant hal-device listing. The iriver E100 can operate in MTP or USB Mass Storage mode. In USB mass storage mode, it's broken: HAL does not give it any volume.* properties, so it can't be mounted through HAL. This player is a little unusual (broken?) in the Mass Storage mode in that it does not export a partition table for any of its Mass Storage endpoints. Instead it exports two VFAT partitions that appear to the kernel as distinct drives: one for the internal microSD storage and one for the internal storage. Thus even after deleting all relevant HAL entries and making it appear as a pen drive, HAL still can't mount it. I tried to teach HAL about this by manually adding volume.* properties but to no avail, so I'm throwing this here in the hopes that someone with more HAL wizardry than I can do it. :) Attached please find the hal-device listing.
