X will often crash with composite on using radeon or ati driver with Xfce 4.4.2 or 4.4.3. Vesa driver doesn't seem to have this problem. This seems to happen during some user actions, like clicking an icon, clicking buttons etc.

Kernel: 2.6.24.5-smp

Please attach your xorg log and config.  As I mentioned on the mailins list, do either of the following options help?

Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
or
Option "RenderAccel" "FALSE"

Also it would be nice to get a full backtrace with GDB:
