The default mode when no monitor information is specified and no DDC info is obtained is 800x600.

This is all fine but making this 1024x768 is non-trivial.

When I increase the HorizSync range in the configuration file I get a 1152x768 mode but no 1024x768 mode according to the log.

If X thinks the card can do 1152x768 why not 1024x768?
