1.) I have a FSC E-4010 Lifebook with an on-board Intel 855GM chip. At work I 
use a FSC P19 LCD. Every time I turn it on I have to execute the i855crt 
program ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/i855crt ): 
/i855crt swcursor on 1280x1024@75 
 
Unfortunately, some cursors aren't shown (e.g. when over a link). When turning 
the SWCursor option on (see my xorg.conf at 
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1966 ) the display is totally 
garbled. When running WinXP in a vmware session, all cursors are properly 
rendered. 
 
2.) Everytime I change my X display size I have to execute i855crt again.

Can you try the driver available at

http://www.fairlite.demon.co.uk/intel.html 

and update the bug report ?

Apologies, I kinda assumed that you'd be running a recent'ish version of X.Org.

You need to upgrade to a 6.8.x version, as it seems you are still on 6.7.x.

I only copied the file to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/. I hope it was
correct.

Can you please upgrade to 6.8.x and try again ?

Switching to xorg 6.8 resolved the problem. I didn't even need any special 
driver.
