Description Kapil Verma 2009-01-26 06:06:49 UTC
libxcb.so.1 version is 7.4-1.24

I am using Eclipse Ganymede Version: 3.4.1 Build id: M20080911-1700 with BIRT
plugin (http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/) to develop reports. When I click
on the preview tab of the report designer page, the complete application
crashes. Everything was running perfect a few hours ago, but now it crashes
consistently.

I use T61 Thinkpad, with openSuse11.1, KDE4 with composites enabled. I tried
with other users accounts using different desktop environments, but the problem
is consistent.

I launch eclipse as:
eclipse -vmargs -Xms128m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m

I use sun java. The version information is:
java version "1.6.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_11-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b16, mixed mode

However I tried using openJDK1.6 as well, but the problem still occured

I am sure this is not an issue with Eclispe, BIRT or Java, but the problem is
with some library, as suggested by JVM logs which is attached with the bug.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Using java (open jdk or sun) open eclipse (which has birt plugin installed)
2. Create a new sample report
3. Click on the preview tab on the report designer. The eclipse crashes.

Actual Results:
Eclipse IDE closes without any message in KDE4 (with a crash message box in
gnome)

Expected Results:
It should show preview of the report

The attached logs contain the stack traces. I am using oxygen theme in KDE4,
but that should not matter because I have tried this on gnome as well (with
default theme).

Eclipse seems to work pretty well these days.
