Description Michal 2009-05-25 03:25:42 UTC
When I install Intel drivers 2.6.3 - 2.7.1, it is not possible to play any video. The player shows blue rectangle Instead of video. And mplayer writes

X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)

and in the Xorg.0.log is message

(EE) intel(0): Failed to pin xv buffer
The only thing what helps is changing the playing driver from xv to x11, but it is not solution, because it is slow. I tried to set AccelMethod XAA and EXA, nothing helps (when using UXA xserver use 100% of cpu, but it is another bug).

I use gentoo kernel 2.6.30-rc6, mesa-7.5_rc2, xorg-server-1.5.3-r6, intel drivers 2.6.3 - 2.7.1,

Assuming you are using video overlay port, that's bug#21820.
You should be able to use textured video port if your chipset is post-915. Check xvinfo to see if you have textured video port.
