RFE: Please port the Solaris/Xsun Shared-Memory X transport to the Xorg tree
(this should result in a nice performance boost for local applications).

On modern kernels such as Linux 2.6, UNIX socket operations are basically free,
so I don't believe this will provide anywhere near as big a win as, e.g., XCB.

What about other platforms. Unix sockets in cygwin are emulated with TCP. I
think SHM can be a great improvement
