On modern kernels such as Linux 2.6, UNIX socket operations are basically free, so I don't believe this will provide anywhere near as big a win as, e.g., XCB. What about other platforms. Unix sockets in cygwin are emulated with TCP. I think SHM can be a great improvement our bugzilla is not the place for these requests |
