[Problem]
On bootup with no xorg.conf and KMS enabled, usplash seemed to be ok, then I could see messages on the console (console was in hi-res), but X failed to start up.  The following error message appears in the Xorg.0.log:

Fatal server error:
Cannot run in framebuffer mode. Please specify busIDs for all framebuffer devices
