Bug 23365

Summary: [865G] xf86-video-intel 2.8.0 randomly freezes
Product: DRI Reporter: Itzamna <xamaniqinqu>
Component: DRM/IntelAssignee: Carl Worth <cworth>
Status: CLOSED DUPLICATE QA Contact:
Severity: critical
Priority: high

Description Itzamna 2009-08-17 08:25:18 UTC
Video card: Intel 82865G
Operating system: Gentoo GNU/Linux, 32 bit
X.org server version: 1.6.3
Kernel version: 3.6.30-gentoo-r5
Symptoms: Upon starting X.org, the system will randomly freeze. The freezes seem to occur more frequently if 3d acceleration is not used.
Request: Fix the i865 freezes. Perhaps make a driver version that compiles against dri1, not dri2.

This is likely to be dup with bug#22904.

Does mouse work after the freeze?
Can you provide intel_gpu_dump according to http://intellinuxgraphics.org/intel-gpu-dump.html?

Hello mr. Jin,

Yes, mouse movement always works after the freeze. However, keyboard and mouse button input are ignored.

I will try providing a kernel GPU dump, I will post it here when I've done that.

See the report of #22904 for a fix for 865 hangs that was published yesterday.
And please report back in that bug if the patch fixes your symptoms.

Thanks, Remco, for your report!

Hello mr. Worth,

I will try out the patch tomorrow morning and report back (the computer with the i865 is not my own).

Thanks for spending some time on the older video cards.
