Description DEMAINE Benoit-Pierre 2005-01-20 15:31:37 UTC
http://www.doublehp.org/dvorak
points to a new keyboard layout I wrote.

It is in fact called dvorak(doublehp).

It is based on the dvorak(basic), and adds support for more accents, cedilles,
and other funny chars.

motivations: dvorak(fr) has different spread of ordinary letters, thus is not
compatible with classic dvorak boards.
dvorak(no) do not let upper signs above number at their original (basic) placement.

This layout is based on the basic, but add support of everything you need to
write any european langage: €¢¦øØçæÆÅå°«»¡"£¤½¾^ˇ`¶±÷¿×·¹²³¼½ for the most
classical ones.

Please insert the doublehp section in the current dvorak layout of the CVS.

PS: it is based on the xfree file, but just extract the new section, and add it
in X.org'- CVS.

The story is that in xkeyboard-config dvorak layout is split into national
layouts like us(dvorak), fr(dvorak) etc. So there is no symbols/dvorak any more.
Would it be possible to put this layout into some national one?

Also, could you please submit the proper description for this layout (for the
xml registry)?

no :)

my layout include many accentuated letters for many langages. This may be very
conveniant for polyglot people. (people who can speak and write several
langages). especially, this mapp support η for french, µ for electronic ppl, °
for all european degree, ψ and ¦ which I never use, ΅Ώ for spanish, Ή²³Ό½^I
never needed ... and some αβΰ ικθ νξμ στς ϊϋω δλοφό η Η ζ Ζ € Ά ¥ © ® ° ψ Ψ

I am not sure I included all symbols for everybody, but if I did, I cant see any
advantage for splitting them. and if not, there is still some spare room :)

Any way, my layout is still in a NEW bug, so the one who will include it into X
may feel free to remove my pseudo :S

http://djelibeibi.unex.es/dvorak/dvorak-es points to Spanish Dvorak layout. You
can add it to xkb by "cat dvorak-es >> /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/dvorak" (in my
distro). There is no support yet for this layout. I have tested it and works
fine. It supports €¢¶¥ŧđ¢ħ£זר€ונ®‏ŋ simbols, řבאגהד accents, and many more
(http://djelibeibi.unex.es/dvorak/dvorak-es.png). There is a "Compose" file at
http://djelibeibi.unex.es/dvorak/Compose to make it works well. Could you add it
to X development?

Sorry my poor english. Diego.

Diego, I will add this one - just not to dvorak, to Spanish layout (as 'dvorak'
variant. Thanks for the pointer. Regarding the 'Compose' file - it's not my
piece of cake, xkeyboard-config does not deal with the Compose files.
Comment 6 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2005-12-30 08:00:26 UTC
from xkeyboard-config it is closed. Could you please open separate bug against
xorg in order to track Compose side of things?

could you point me to the XORG BTS or wherever I should report ?

by the old times, I thought freedesktop was the place to submitt improovements.
If not, where shall I go now ?
