PDF with badly readable embedded font
An example of a PDF file where ability to force user specified font instead of embedded ones would make text readable.

Rendering of sample PDF in Okular and Inkscape
Importing PDF with embedded fonts into Inkscape allows to change font and thus make readable again.
Top: Okular 1.3.3 with PDF Backend 0.6.5 Poppler 0.62.0-r1
Bottom: Inkscape 0.92 (built-in importer)
