Description BeteNoire 2009-09-01 04:49:20 UTC
I have current Gentoo with such software version installed:
xorg-server is 1.6.3.901
kernel is 2.6.30
x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati is 6.12.2-r1

Since I am using open source radeon driver I can't switch to terminal from X.
When I press ctrl+alt+f1 tty doesn't appear, but screen goes bright with some very thin, one pixel, colorful or gray strips, sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal.
I am able to go back to X by alt+f7.

I don't use any framebuffer for now, but would be great to have bigger, readable resolution on tty.

Any tips how to fix it would be appreciated.

KMS should work better in this regard.

No, it doesn't work. In fact it works even worse. Screen goes white just after I click enter in bootloader.

Now I'm testing git version - effect is the same, so please, anyone could help?

Is this any better with a newer kernel or driver?
