Hello Richard,

I got a report in Ubuntu that dk-p does not show the remaining battery life any more on a Dell Mini 9 with two separate batteries: the stock factory battery and an aftermarket extended battery

This reportedly worked well with hal, so I guess from a hardware POV it should be supported.

I attach the gnome-power-bug result here. Is there something else I need to get from the reporter?

Battery is broken:

>energy-rate:         0 W

So we need to fallback to the time estimation code, which isn't turned on by default yet in DeviceKit-power. I'll look more at how much work it would be to switch it on after the release today.

Any news on that bug? It seems to affect a few HP laptops too (using a dm4 here, but also affects HP Mini). Or has it been fixed upstream without updating the report?

One of the downstream bugs is over a couple hundred users marking this as "affecting them". (I added the URL above) Personally, I have lost batter power estimation in minutes on both my HP laptops (dv5 and dv7) and am curious as to the technical challenges of migrating the older way of battery monitoring (which used to work great for me) forwards.  

Given the number of comments downstream (where somebody suggests it is being handled upstream - with a re-assuring please no more comments or "me too"), I am wondering if this bug needs a new title and/or some additional detail to get resolved. I actually think that user just didn't want to be email spammed on updates from new reports.

It is the longest standing, widest impacting, unresolved regression in Ubuntu that impacts myself, having stretched into its third distribution unresolved. (10.04, 10.10, 11.04)
