someone went to the trouble of tracking down some voodoo magic errors
which used not to occur with i810 but now do with the intel driver.

The info in the link is pretty old, and it doesn't provide the info about driver version and hw info.

If the chipset is <965, I suppose this has been fixed (with xf86-video-intel>=2.8 and kernel>=2.6.31).
