Description Pierre 2009-11-13 09:55:48 UTC
[...]
checking for xmllint... /usr/local/bin/xmllint
checking for a Python interpreter with version >= 2.5... none
configure: error: no suitable Python interpreter found

But I have Python 3.1.1 installed
Comment 1 Peter Harris 2009-11-13 10:20:26 UTC
Python 3 is not the same language as Python 2 (in the same way that C++ is not the same language as C).

The message should probably read "checking for a Python 2 interpreter with version >= 2.5... none", but that string comes from autoconf, so I'm not sure there's much we can do about that.
Comment 2 Josh Triplett 2009-11-13 12:52:46 UTC
That said, long-term we need to make the Python bits compatible with Python 3. Ideally while keeping compatibility with Python 2, but eventually even if not.
Comment 3 Pierre 2009-11-13 19:51:23 UTC
Ok I see, that was not very clear.
I'll try to update to the last Python 2.x too.
